Sachin Garg is a seasoned Data Science and AI professional and brings to PayU over two decades of experience working in the USA and India. Sachin spearheads data science efforts at PayU and has been instrumental in developing its data roadmap. He leads data teams across PayU Payments, PayU Finance and Data Insights, and is responsible for developing data infrastructure, platforms and teams.
Previously, Sachin has worked with American Express, where he started and was Vice President of Big Data Labs and built a team of world class data scientists. The labs played a crucial role in transforming Amex Risk, Marketing and Customer Service functions by moving from legacy infrastructure, algorithms and models to AI. Sachin also led the initiative to utilize Amex’s unique closed-loop purchase data to enhance performance marketing for Fortune 500 partners in FMCG and media.
During his time at Yahoo! Labs, Sachin led the team responsible for building, improving and maintaining ML models for optimal matching of online ads on the Yahoo! Ad platforms. He has also
been associated with Avaya Labs and Bell Labs. Prior to joining PayU, Sachin has worked with KloveChef, a food-tech startup which utilised deep-learning based NLU pipeline for conversational AI.
Keen to dive deeper and experiment with sophisticated technologies, Sachin worked on his own fashion-tech startup for close to two years.
Sachin holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Duke University and Masters in Computer Science from Washington University, USA. He has published 40+ papers and holds 20+ patents across multiple domains and is based out of Bangalore.
